We wanted to let our users know that the Commons will be unavailable starting at 8am Eastern this Sunday, December 22nd and will be back online by 12pm, though it may be restored sooner. The downtime will allow the CUNY Graduate Center Information Technology Services team to perform critical maintenance of firewall hardware that protects the Commons and other services that rely on the GC’s network infrastructure.

We also wanted to apologize to all users affected by the unexpected Commons downtime on Tuesday, December 19th (see our status blog post here for details) as we attempted to perform one of our routine maintenance and feature releases. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

We have been working diligently ever since to stabilize the site as much as possible. We have paused our release routine and made other adjustments to minimize the risk of disruption in advance of our migration to Reclaim Hosting, which will take place on January 15th, 2025. Once the migration is complete, we feel confident that Reclaim’s cloud hosting expertise will improve our site’s performance and reliability.

Our users are what make the Commons so special, and we are so grateful for your patience and understanding during this transitional time. Our hosting migration will be just the start of our plans to serve the CUNY community even better in 2025. Watch this space for further updates, and happy holidays!
